WICHITA - Scattered showers are in the forecast for the Wichita area today, and forecasters say strong storms are possible later today.
Some of those storms could have quarter-sized hail and winds of more than 60 miles an hour, forecasters warn. Heavy downpours are also a possibility tonight. Light north winds will remain in the single digits today as highs top out in the low 90s around the Wichita metropolitan area. Lows will be in the 70s, with winds shifting to the east in the low teens.
Thunderstorm chances will persist through Friday, forecasters say, with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.
