WICHITA - Thunderstorms - some of them strong - are possible in portions of central and southern Kansas this morning, including the Wichita area.
Forecasters say the scattered storms could produce heavy rain, small hail and winds of more than 50 miles an hour. Storms should be ending shortly before noon, with skies gradually clearing the rest of the day. Highs are expected to reach the mid-90s around Wichita and the heat index may approach 100.
Temperatures are forecast to hit 100 in Wichita Thursday, forecasters say, with triple digits anticipated again on Friday and Saturday.
