WICHITA — Due to customer demand, Freddy’s Frozen Custard is coming to Derby.
“We get so many calls and e-mails from the residents of Derby and south of Derby saying . . . ‘Please move down here,’ ” says co-owner Scott Redler.
The restaurant, which has a full line of entrees in addition to desserts, will locate in a strip center in front of Target at Derby Marketplace at 71st South and Rock Road. That’s where Verizon Wireless, Clix Portrait Studios, At the Beach and Lilian’s Nail Boutique are.
“It’s going to be a little bit different for us,” Redler says.

The chain of 31 (and growing) stores typically has 3,000-square-foot free-standing buildings. This one will be 2,500 square feet on the end of a strip center. It will have a drive-through.
“But it’s a strip center with plenty of parking,” Redler says.
