Voting against stimulus wasn't enough for Tiahrt

Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Goddard, didn't get far in an attempt Tuesday to roll back the stimulus bill. The House Appropriations Committee nixed it on a party-line vote. "Disguised as economic recovery, the so-called stimulus plan has miserably failed the American people," Tiahrt said. "Quite simply, it has not worked. Consider that 1.5 million Americans have lost their jobs since the Obama stimulus bill became law, and then ask yourself why we should borrow money to fund programs that fail to perform." He planned to try again in the full House. One wonders whether Tiahrt cares what his fellow Republicans in the Legislature would have had to cut from the state budget if not for some $1 billion in stimulus funds.
