WICHITA - The first day of June is bringing an opening salvo of summer to much of Kansas.
Sunny skies, robust southerly breezes and highs in the low 90s are in the forecast for the Wichita metropolitan area, forecasters say.
Winds will be in the teens, with gusts to nearly 30 miles an hour. Showers are likely in central Kansas tonight, and are expected to move into the Wichita area Tuesday and Tuesday night.
Some of the storms could be strong, forecasters warn, with high winds and hail the primary threats.
Highs on Tuesday should peak in the upper 80s under mostly cloudy skies.
