The Waiting Game

So the waiting game is over for the ESU baseball team — who have learned their postseason fate: They’ll take on top-seeded Central Missouri in the South Central Regional on Thursday in Warrensburg, Mo. That’s about as tough a draw as you can get, but at least the Hornets get to keep playing.

Another team still in waiting mode? Definitely the Friends softball team, which has No. 1 Cal Baptist as the big shark in its pool play round this week at the NAIA Tournament in Decatur, Fla. Here’s the good in that — No. 22 Friends doesn’t play CB until the final game of pool play. If they can get through Park (Mo.) and Hastings (Neb.) on Thurs. and Friday … well hey, that’s why they play the games, right?

They’re not waiting at the Region VI Tournament over at LD Stadium — they’re in the thick of things and Colby and Seward are your only unbeatens. I’m popping in to LD to catch the morning game between Garden City and Fort Scott.

Other than that … check out my story on Butler’s spring game drama over the weekend in El Dorado — that’s in the Monday Eagle.

OUT.
