Noon doubleheader today after a wild day of weather on Friday. I don’t know what kind of shape Carbondale is in. The town was hit pretty hard. I don’t expect any electricity at the park. I thought cancelling the series was a possibility after Friday’s storms.
As of this morning, the games are on. But I’m not 100-percent sure the doubleheader will be played.
SIU’s ballpark took some hits. The roof blew off the pressbox. A part of the fence is damaged. Trees lining the field blew down. I’m not sure if the campus has power, and that may determine if today’s games are played. Safety of fans and players may turn into an issue.
The Shockers had no power at their hotel in nearby Marion on Friday after about 2 p.m. They had to drive about 40 miles to Mount Vernon to eat.

I got to Marion just as the storm hit. Power was out a my hotel when I arrived. After a few minutes, all the guests were pulled out of their rooms and into hallways to avoid the danger of broken glass. The winds tore up signs and trees, but didn’t do much damage to buildings.
