A nationwide bus tour to promote school bus safety will stop in Wichita on Tuesday.

The Safety Dog Bus Tour, sponsored by First Student and the National Safety Council, will be at the Evergreen Branch Library, 2601 N. Arkansas, from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, said Conrad Kersten, spokesman for First Student.

Children will learn bus safety tips, sign a safety pledge and take photos with Safety Dog, the mascot for First Student. Parents can tour buses and learn about their safety features.

First Student, a private company, is the bus transportation provider for Wichita public schools, the state’s largest district. The company operates a fleet of more than 520 buses to transport nearly 17,000 Wichita students each day.
