Park City man sentenced to 13 years in prison for distributing child pornography

A Park City man was sentenced Wednesday to 165 months in federal prison for distributing child pornography to young boys over the Internet, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom.

Kyle B. Rains, 31, pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to the release, the investigation began on Feb. 6, when Omegle, an online video-chat service, detected child porn being streamed from Rains’ IP address. Omegle notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and police officers were able to follow an electronic trail to Rains’ Park City residence.

Rains had broadcasted a video of a toddler being raped and sodomized, the release said. He used Omegle to target young boys to receive the videos, according to the release.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Wichita Police Department, Homeland Security Operations, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Hart investigated in the case.
