Police are looking for three people reportedly involved in an altercation that resulted in a teenager being shot twice in Planeview on Tuesday night.
The 15-year-old boy was shot in the left wrist and abdomen, Lt. Steve Kenney said, but escaped serious injury. He was treated and released from Wesley Medical Center.
The incident unfolded just before 6:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Roosevelt, Kenney said. The teen was confronted by three men ranging in age between 18 and 28.
“Words were exchanged about gang affiliation,” Kenney said.
The 18-year-old man pointed a gun at the teen and the argument escalated.
Another man in the group grabbed the gun and told the teen he was going to “smoke him,” Kenney said.
The teen tried to leave at that point, but several shots were fired and he was hit twice. Several people in the neighborhood reported hearing gunshots, police reported at the scene.
