Man stabbed to death in southwest Wichita

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in southwest Wichita on Sunday night.

Officers were sent to an apartment at 2501 W. Wildwood Lane shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday in response to the report of a man needing assistance after being stabbed, Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said. That’s south of Pawnee and just west of Meridian.

When police and first responders arrived, they found Tyreece J. Walker, 32, lying on the floor of a bedroom, Woodrow said.

Walker had “multiple stab wounds all over his body,” she said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. During the ensuing investigation, a 16-year-old boy was arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Walker lived at the apartment, Woodrow said, but the suspect did not. Police are still working to determine what prompted the stabbing.

Walker is the 10th homicide victim of the year in Wichita, Woodrow said.
