Police: Man beaten with concrete, robbed in QuikTrip bathroom

A man was beaten with concrete in a downtown QuikTrip bathroom, and police have released photographs of someone they have identified as the suspect.

The attack occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at 1010 E. Douglas, Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said. A 67-year-old man was in the restroom when someone came up from behind and “struck him several times in the head with a piece of concrete,” she said.

The victim and suspect were the only two people in the restroom at the time. The suspect stole the victim’s wallet, then left the store.

The victim was taken to a hospital with “significant injuries,” a post on the police department’s Facebook page stated. Woodrow said the victim had head injuries and was admitted to the hospital in serious condition.

The suspect is a black man in his mid-50s who is about 6 feet tall and has a medium build, Woodrow said. He was wearing a blue coat and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the man is being asked to call the robbery section at 316-268-4177 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
