Police said Monday they have no suspects and little to go on so far as they investigate the city’s latest homicide.
JaRon V. Sanders, 26, was shot once in the head as he stood in the street in front of his house in the 600 block of North Erie early Sunday morning, Wichita police Lt. Todd Ojile said Monday. That’s near Central and Hillside.
Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene. He had hosted a party at his house earlier on Saturday, Ojile said.
“By most accounts, during the party, there were no problems,” Ojile said.

Later, with some people lingering at the party, an argument began between Sanders and a person in the street, he said. Sanders was then shot.
While police do not yet know who the suspect is, Ojile said, “we believe there were several witnesses to the shooting.”
By the time officers arrived early Sunday morning, “there was no one left at the scene,” Ojile said.
Investigators have retraced Sanders’ activities before he was shot in an effort to figure out who was at the party.
“We spent most of Sunday trying to locate people,” Ojile said.
Sanders has a roommate, but he was not home at the time of the shooting. There had been no police calls to the house on Erie before the shooting, Ojile said.
A lack of cooperation has hindered the investigation, he said.
