A robber threatened a service-station cashier with a knife and then escaped with cash and cigarettes, Wichita police said Sunday.

The robbery occurred at about 5:40 a.m. at the Presto station at 3311 N. Rock Road, said police Sgt. Ed Brower.

The robber entered the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes. He then jumped over the counter and forced the 19-year-old clerk to empty both registers.

The man escaped on foot. The amount of money and cigarettes taken has not been determined, Brower said.

The robber is described as a black man, 40-45 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 150-160 pounds. He has a shaved head and was wearing tan pants and shirt with brown shoes.
