Man’s collarbone broken in beating outside bar

A 24-year-old man suffered a broken collarbone in a beating outside a Wichita bar just after midnight Sunday morning, Wichita police said.

The attack occurred outside Champs Bar and Grill, 1106 S. Seneca.

The victim was confronted at about 12:30 a.m. outside the bar by two men who had been thrown out earlier, said Wichita police Sgt. Ed Brower.

The victim “evidently knew the bouncer,” Brower said. “That’s why their anger was directed toward him.”

The two assailants punched the victim several times, knocking him to the ground, and then kicked him while he was down, Brower said. The attackers left before police arrived and no suspects have been identified yet, he said.

The victim was taken to Wesley Medical Center where he was found to have a broken right collarbone. He was in stable condition as of noon Sunday, Brower said.
