Two people have been arrested in connection with a weekend shooting incident that killed one person and wounded another, police said Monday.
People were leaving a company Christmas party at about 11 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus hall in the 3200 block of West 13th Street when people pulled up in a car to take someone home from the party, Lt. Todd Ojile said. That’s near 13th Street and North Sheridan.
“Words were exchanged” between occupants of the car and people in the parking lot, Ojile said, and several shots were fired from the car.
Super Street Khatiya, 24, was shot multiple times in the stomach and wasn’t breathing when he was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis, where he was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m. Saturday.

A second shooting victim, a 21-year-old man, was taken by private vehicle to Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was later transferred to St. Francis, Ojile said, where he underwent surgery and is in serious condition.
Two people who were in the car from which shots were fired were found early Sunday morning, Ojile said. Manuel Otano-Hernandez, 20, was booked into jail on suspicion of murder shortly before 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
A 20-year-old woman was also arrested for aiding and abetting the homicide suspect, Ojile said. Police are looking for a third person in connection with the shooting, though Ojile said evidence indicates only one person fired shots.
The shooting is not gang-related, he said. It also had nothing to do with the company hosting the Christmas party, he said.
Khatiya’s death raises the number of homicides in Wichita this year to 24. There were 17 in the city last year.
