The Wichita Police Department is trying to find a one-of-a-kind statue by local artist Gino Salerno.

The statue is called “Girl with a Bird” and is made of oak, according to the police department’s Facebook page. The statue, which is a woman in a blue dress holding a red bird, is about 8 feet tall. It was taken from the area of Ninth and Woodlawn, police said.

Salerno is known for his chainsaw or tree sculptures in the Wichita area. The stolen statue is included in a YouTube video of his sculptures of women from 1990 to 2002.

If anyone has information about the theft, call 911 or the department’s larceny investigations section at 316-268-4136.
