Man struck, killed in hit-and-run in west Wichita, police said

A 41-year-old man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday in west Wichita, police said.

Cary Lee South of Wichita died at the scene of the crash, Wichita police spokesperson Brad Wright said Monday.

Police were called at 12:46 a.m. to a crash at Kellogg and Tyler. Officers found South lying on the eastbound on-ramp to Kellogg from Tyler, Wichita police spokesperson Brad Wright said.

South had serious injuries to the head and died at the scene, Wright added.

“Through preliminary investigations, it is believed that the 41-year-old male was struck by a vehicle, which fled from the scene,” according to a WPD news release.

Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call detectives at 316-350-3672 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
