The bride was there to say “I do,” but Wichita police say somebody else was at a west-side wedding earlier this month for other reasons.

An unidentified man stole wallets belonging to the bride and a bridesmaid at an Aug. 1 wedding at Country Acres Baptist Church, 8810 W. 10th St., police say, near 13th and Tyler.

Police have posted photos of the suspect and his vehicle on Facebook and are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact Officer Robyn Douty (rdouty@wichita.gov) or Officer Ron McHenry (rmchenry@wichita.gov).

The bride noticed the theft later, when her credit cards began being used at stores across Wichita, Lt. James Espinoza said Thursday.

A review of security video at the church revealed the suspect is a tall black male in his late 20s or early 30s. He has a stocky build and was wearing light pants, gold metallic high-top shoes, and a pink and white striped shirt.

The suspect has no connection to the church, Espinoza said.
