Home invasion where Clearwater High student shot remains under investigation

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a reported home invasion in which a 17-year-old Clearwater High School student was shot in the abdomen, officials said Wednesday.

The 17-year-old has been released from a hospital, said sheriff’s Lt. Lin Dehning.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. May 21 in the 11100 block of West 95th Street South. The 17-year-old, the only one home, reported that someone broke into the residence, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “He reported that he confronted the (two) intruders and during the course of the struggle, he was shot in the abdomen,” the statement said. No items were taken.
