Woman, 18, injured in late-night drive-by shooting

Wichita police are investigating the drive-by shooting of a woman late Monday night.

Wichita police Officer Charley Davidson said the woman, 18, was sitting in the front seat of a car in the 1800 block of North Green, near Grove, at around 11:40 p.m. when a white four-door Hyundai drove up and a man inside fired shots at her. A bullet hit the woman in the torso. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Davidson said.

Police said the shooter's motive and whereabouts were still unknown Tuesday. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Wichita police at 316-268-4407 or Wichita Sedgwick County Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

Two 17-year-old girls in the car with the 18-year-old woman were not hurt, Davidson said.
