A man was shot and killed while several people were in a Planeview house Tuesday afternoon, Wichita police said.

A witness to the shooting, in the 2900 block of South Sayles, called 911 just before 5 p.m. and told dispatchers that he would wait for officers in the 2600 block of South Hydraulic, Wichita police Lt. Todd Ojile said Wednesday.

Responding officers could not find the caller, but they found the body of a man who had been shot at the house, Ojile said.

He was identified as 40-year-old Emmitt Lee Olson.

More than six people were at the house at the time of the shooting, but officers have not found any of them, Ojile said.

Neighbors told police that people come and go from the house at all times of the day and night, and officers have been to the house before, Ojile said. Drugs are frequently used there, he said.

Investigators do not know what led up to the shooting, Ojile said, which is the 15th homicide of the year in Wichita.

Police ask anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
