A large man wearing coveralls and a clown mask robbed a west-side Dollar General store shortly before closing on Friday night, Wichita police Sgt. Roger Runft said.
Around 10 p.m., the man, estimated to be about 6-foot-tall and 200 pounds, went up to two employees at the store, at 1206 W. Douglas, and demanded money from the cash register, “brandishing some sort of weapon,” Runft said. Police think the weapon was a stun gun.
The robber fled the scene before police arrived. Police do not know how much money was stolen, since the store was closing at the time and putting away money from the day.
“It would take a while” before officers find out how much money was lost, he said.
No injuries were reported.
