A 62-year-old Pizza Hut delivery man was robbed of his pizzas and pop in the 400 block of North New York on Saturday.
The robbery happened at 6:15 p.m., near Central and I-135, as the man was attempting to make a delivery, according to Sgt. Roger Runft, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.
The man told police he was jumped from behind by two to three men who hit him in the head with a baseball bat and knocked him briefly unconscious. The robbers stole pizza and pop and ran off. The employee was not carrying any cash.
The suspects are in their late teens. The apartment where the delivery was to be made was vacant.
“There have been two to three instances in the last week that are consistent with this scenario,” Runft said.
The delivery man was treated and released at the scene.
According to Runft, there were several families walking in the area when the robbery occurred and witnesses were able to provide police with descriptions of the robbers.
