Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Wichita police were called to Murdock and Hillside after a 60-year-old man reported someone had tried to rob him at gunpoint.
The man told police he was driving south on Hillside near Ninth Street when he noticed a man he knew who pulled up in a vehicle behind him. The man got out, walked up and pointed a handgun at the 60-year-old asking for his wallet, according to Sgt. Roger Runft, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.
The 60-year-old man drove away; but the man, 20, got back in his vehicle and chased the victim to Hillside and Murdock. The suspect fired a shot at the victim, Runft said. In the meantime, the 60-year-old man called 911; officers quickly responded.
The suspect’s car was found in the area, Runft said. But police are still searching for him on suspicion of attempted robbery and aggravated assault.
The 60-year-old man was not injured.
