Wichita police are investigating a shooting outside a West Central nightclub early Saturday that critically injured a 30-year-old man.
The man, who suffered an abdomen wound, is expected to survive. He has not been completely cooperative with investigators, police Sgt. Roger Runft said at noon Saturday.
Runft gave this account: The club is in a small strip center with a large parking lot. Police were monitoring the area around closing time, about 1:50 a.m. when they heard what sounded like two gunshots. As they were stopping vehicles leaving the area, in the 4300 block of West Central, they found the 30-year-old with the gunshot wound in one of the vehicles.
There has been no arrest, Runft said. Detectives are continuing to follow up with interviews.
It’s common for officers to monitor large crowds around clubs at closing time, he said.
