Suspect jailed in Hutchinson shooting

Updated 3:38 p.m.: The man found dead Friday in a Hutchinson home has been identified as 42-year-old Clarence D. Allen of Hutchinson, police said. The man suspected of shooting him is 34-year-old Quinton Moore.

Moore has been arrested and booked into the Reno County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. His bond was set at $500,000, Hutchinson police Capt. Troy Hoover said in a news release.

Police said Moore went to a home at 1701 E. 30th Ave. in Hutchinson sometime early Friday morning, shot Allen multiple times with a handgun and then immediately fled. A person who knew Allen showed up at the home around 6:30 a.m., found the body and called 911, Hoover said.

The shooting investigation is ongoing, Hoover said. Anyone with information about it is asked to call the Hutchinson Police Department at 620-694-2816.

Updated 1:30 p.m.: Hutchinson police say a man was found dead from what appears to be gunshot wounds Friday morning at a home in Hutchinson.

The man’s identity was not being released Friday because his family had not yet been told of his death, Capt. Troy Hoover said in a news release posted on the Hutchinson Police Department’s Facebook page. Officers discovered the man’s body when they were sent to 1701 E. 30th St. at 6:34 a.m. Friday over a report of a shooting, Hoover said.

Police have a suspect in custody, Hoover said. That person’s name was not immediately released.

Original story: Reno County authorities are investigating a shooting that reportedly happened at a home in Hutchinson on Friday morning.

One person, a man, is dead, according to a report from the Hutchinson News. A person of interest was being interviewed Friday, the newspaper said. The name of person killed was not immediately released.

The home is located in the 1700 block of East 30th Avenue. Officers went to the address shortly after 6:30 a.m., according to reports.
