An 11-year-old student at Lakewood Middle School was arrested mid-morning Wednesday after making threats to a school staff member, police said.

The student told the staff member that he was going to leave campus, get a gun, return and “shoot everyone in the building,” according to Sgt. Jim Feldman of the Salina Police Department.

The staff member alerted the school resource officer and another Salina officer found the student outside.

He was taken into custody on suspicion of criminal threat. Police didn’t find any weapons on him, Feldman said.
