The owner of a Kansas City, Kan., restaurant was ordered Monday to serve three years of supervised release for bank fraud.

Charles R. Waits, 56, of Lenexa was also ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution within 90 days, U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said in a news release. Waits, one of the owners of the now-closed Kansas City Sports Grill, pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud for lying to Community America Credit Union when he applied for a loan, including listing assets he didn’t actually own and overvaluing the properties he did, Beall said.

His sentence was handed down in federal court.
