Bar argument sends one man to hospital, another to jail

An argument in a south Wichita bar early Saturday morning landed one man in the hospital and another man in jail, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to Champs Bar in the 1100 block of South Seneca at about 1 a.m. Saturday, Officer Charley Davidson said. They found a 41-year-old man in critical condition, who was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Over the course of their investigation, Davidson said, officers learned an argument broke out between the victim and a suspect. The victim was punched and he fell to the ground, striking his head.

Officers located the suspect in a residence in the 400 block of South Mount Carmel, Davidson said. He was arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated battery.

Anyone who witnessed the altercation is being asked to contact the detectives section at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
