Dispute between neighbors ends in shooting in Park City

The Wichita Eagle

A dispute between neighbors at a Park City mobile home park culminated in a shooting, authorities said.

The shooting was reported shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chisholm Creek mobile home park near Broadway and 63rd Street North, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatch supervisor said.

Park City police officers were responding to the report of a disturbance with a knife involved when they were given an updated report that a shooting had occurred, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Col. Greg Pollock said.

“It appears two neighbors were fighting for unknown reasons” at the time of the shooting, Pollock said.

A man about 40 years old was hospitalized with a gunshot wound, he said. The victim was shot in the right hip, according to police radio communications between an ambulance and the hospital to which he was being transported.

There were several witnesses to the shooting, Pollock said, and an investigation led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man who lives next door to the victim. The shooting occurred outside.

No other suspects are being sought in the case, Pollock said.
