A teenager was shot in the leg by her boyfriend shortly after an argument, Wichita police said.

Officers responded to a shooting call at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening in the 3000 block of South Sayles Court in Planeview.

“The 17-year-old male stated he and his girlfriend were playing with the gun when it went off,” said Wichita police Officer Charley Davidson.

But Davidson said police determined an argument between the two happened before the gun went off.

The 18-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her right leg.

The 17-year-old was arrested and booked on suspicion of aggravated battery and possession of a firearm by a juvenile, Davidson said.
