Long-time fugitive Vernon Coleman returned to Wichita

WICHITA — A man who has been on law enforcement most-wanted lists for more than a decade has been returned to Wichita to face charges that he molested a girl in 1995.

Vernon "Spike" Coleman, 67, was arrested last week in Pasco County, Fla., on a warrant charging him with aggravated indecent liberties, aggravated criminal sodomy and sexual exploitation of a child.

Coleman, who once operated the Baby Dolls Club at 8025 S. Broadway, has been on the run since 1995 and has been featured several times on the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office's most-wanted list. He was featured on the "America's Most Wanted" television show in 2004.
