A car wreck near Dodge City killed a 24-year-old Wichita man late Friday night, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.
Troopers say Todd J. Fitzsimmons of Wichita died after a Ford Taurus ran a stop sign on 14th Avenue at the U.S. 56 intersection and was hit by the westbound Chevy Tahoe that Fitzsimmons was riding in at about 10:40 p.m.
The Chevy, driven by Nicholas U. Edwards of Manhattan, landed upside down.
Edwards, 23, was flown to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.
Edwards and Fitzsimmons were not wearing their seat belts, according to a Highway Patrol report.
Troopers identified the driver of the Ford as Jerod W. Dailing of Larned, and reported that he was transported to Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, according to a highway patrol report.
His passengers included Phillisha Veach, a 27-year-old from Dodge City, and Bethany Veach, an 8-year-old from Dodge City.
Troopers say neither passengers were wearing a seat belt. They were flown to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis .
