Man dies after stabbing in west Wichita

A 38-year-old man died Thursday morning at the Wesley West emergency room, and Wichita police are investigating the case as a possible homicide.

The man was driven to the Wesley West emergency room at 13th and Tyler shortly before 8:45 a.m., where staff met him at the car and took him inside by wheelchair, Lt. Ken Landwehr said. He had been stabbed in the right leg.

He was pronounced dead shortly after 10 a.m. at the hospital, Landwehr said.

Police say the incident took place at a duplex in the 7700 block of West Nantucket, near 13th and Ridge Road in west Wichita.

The man's girlfriend, who is also 38, was taken to the sixth floor of City Hall, but Landwehr would not say whether she is a suspect.

If the man's death is confirmed as a homicide, it would be the third of the year in Wichita.
