Law enforcement officers converged Wednesday evening on a house in the Oaklawn neighborhood where the body of a homicide victim was found buried behind a shed, authorities said.
Wichita police Lt. Ken Landwehr said detectives found the body while following up on a tip they received Monday.
The body was buried in a shallow grave in the backyard of a house in the 3300 block of East Oaklawn Drive, near K-15 and 47th South, he said. He said the occupant of the house did not know the body was there.
Landwehr identified the victim only as an adult male who was killed in late December. He said there were two suspects in the case, one of whom was in custody on unrelated charges. The second suspect remained at large, he said.

Wichita police and the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office were excavating the body, Landwehr said. He said McConnell Air Force Base was assisting by providing heaters and tents that are sheltering the workers from the extreme cold.
