Six burglaries may be connected

Wichita police are investigating at least six burglaries in northwest Wichita that may be linked.

Residents in a neighborhood near 29th North and Tyler Road began calling 911 around 11:30 p.m. Friday reporting someone kicking in garage entry doors.

In at least two cases, the unidentified suspect or suspects entered a house. Money, coins and jewelry were taken from one house, Sgt. Steve Yarberry said Saturday.

A resident in the 2900 block of North Fossil Rim told police that someone had kicked in a back door of a house and had entered an unattached garage. Police found only footprints.

Shortly afterward, more calls began coming in from the 2800 block of Fossil Rim, the 7900 block of West Meadow Knoll and the 8200 block of West Meadow Pass, where the resident reported money missing from a bedroom.

No suspects have been identified, but police will continue investigating, Yarberry said.

He said good lighting and locked doors are probably the best way to prevent burglaries.

"Nothing is 100 percent," he said.
