Driver charged in crash that killed Wellington woman

A Geuda Springs man was charged Tuesday in Sumner County District Court in connection with a crash that killed a 19-year-old woman on Saturday.

Patrick R. Burr, 19, was charged with involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the Sumner County attorney.

Authorities say Burr was driving a vehicle that was involved in a two-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of Brayden Popplewell of Wellington.

The crash was reported at about 11:50 p.m. It occurred on South Oliver Road, about four miles south of U.S. 160 and nine miles southeast of Wellington, according to the Sumner County Sheriff's Office.

Burr's next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
