A man died after jumping into the canal off I-135 south of Kellogg on Friday night, authorities said.

The incident was reported at 6:49 p.m. near the Harry Street exit on I-135, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatch supervisor said. The man was pronounced dead at about 7:30 p.m.

A domestic violence case in Oaklawn may be connected to the man who jumped into the canal, the supervisor said. Sedgwick County deputies are investigating the Oaklawn incident.

I-135 was shut down in both directions at Harry shortly after 7 p.m. as authorities investigated. It reopened to traffic just before 10:30 p.m.
