‘Funeral procession’ to protest Citizens United decision planned for Thursday

A group of activists will hold a “New Orleans-style dirge band and funeral procession” to commemorate the five-year anniversary of the Citizens United Supreme Court decision at noon Thursday.

Marchers are asked to wear all black attire, and the group requests that musicians bring their instruments. The march will start at Broadway and Douglas, and end at the federal courthouse at Third and Market.

Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was a 2010 Supreme Court case in which judges ruled the government could not place limitations on independent political expenses by non-profit organizations.
