Fire damages three houses near West High

Wichita firefighters are investigating a fire in west Wichita early Tuesday afternoon that damaged three houses.

The houses are in the 600 block of West Hendryx, just north of Wichita West High. The heavy smoke from the fire rolled across Kellogg.

Wichita fire Battalion Chief Stuart Bevis said two of the homes were vacant. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Bevis estimates the damages from all three structures combined to be $150,000, with $5,000 in loss of contents.
