A St. John man died Saturday after a one-vehicle rollover accident in Stafford County.
A vehicle driven by Manuel Herrera, 20, hit railroad tracks in St. John at a high speed, became airborne, and landed back on the road, according to a release from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. As Herrera tried to gain control, the vehicle went into a ditch rolled multiple times and struck an electrical pole; Herrera was ejected, according to the release.
When officers arrived on the scene at about 11:30 a.m., Herrera was lying in the road, and his passenger, Francisco Saenz, 16, also of St. John, was out of the vehicle.
Herrera was taken to Stafford County Hospital and later airlifted to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita where he was pronounced dead, according to the release.
