Watermark Books announces big-time author coming to Wichita
Elizabeth Gilbert, the author behind the landmark memoir “Eat, Pray, Love” and other best-sellers, will visit Wichita in April, Watermark Books & Cafe announced Tuesday.
Gilbert will appear at 6 p.m. April 13 at Crown Uptown, 3207 E. Douglas. Watermark is sponsoring her stop in Wichita, part of a tour to promote the paperback release of Gilbert’s newest novel, “City of Girls.”
Tickets are $25 and include a signed copy of “City of Girls.” To get tickets, go to the Watermark Books website, watermarkbooks.com, or visit the store at 4701 E. Douglas.
Gilbert last appeared in Wichita in 2015 to promote “Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear.”
Gilbert’s widespread success began with her 2006 memoir, “Eat, Pray, Love,” a story of self-discovery through personal struggle that became a book club standard.
Her new novel, “City of Girls,” which was released last summer, explores similar themes. But it recounts the fictional life of Vivian Morris, a sassy young woman who cavorts with showgirls and theater types in New York City in the 1940s.
