One person died and eight more were injured in a car accident Monday morning in Sumner County.
The crash occurred on U.S. 160 at mile marker 298, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority. An accident report shows it happened at 9:41 a.m.
The report says the driver of a car heading east attempted to make a left turn onto I-35 using the entrance at Plaza 19 when it crashed into a westbound car.
The name of the driver heading east has not yet been released, but the Kansas Turnpike Authority report identifies the driver as a 45-year-old female driving a 2009 Subaru Outback registered in Fort Worth.

Ethel McClintock, 65, of Fort Worth, a passenger in the eastbound car, was killed. The two other passengers in that car were Sophia McGee, 8, and Bastian Santee, 2, both of Fort Worth, according to the report.
The westbound driver was identified as Amy Gaither, 42, who was driving a 2005 GMC Envoy registered in Oxford. Four other passengers were reportedly in the westbound car: Austin Gaither, 11; Wyatt Gaither, 7; Logan Gaither, 7; and Erin Gaither, 14. All are of Oxford.
The report cites one other passenger but doesn’t identify the person’s name or the vehicle in which the person was riding vehicle.
