The Wichita Eagle received first-place awards for News and Writing Excellence and Best Front Page among large-circulation newspapers at the Kansas Press Association on Saturday.
The Eagle also won second-place honors in the competition for Community Service Project and Special Section – Editorial.
Eagle reporters, editors and photographers received several individual awards including first place honors for:
▪ Local Business Story – Dion Lefler.
▪ Religion Story – Roy Wenzl
▪ Sports Story – Kelsey Ryan and Rick Plumlee.
▪ Headline Writing – Vicki Reynolds
Second-place individual awards included Sports Column Writing, Bob Lutz; and Feature Photo, Travis Heying. Fernando Salazar took third place in Sports Photo.
The awards were presented at a luncheon Saturday at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Junction City.
