Updated 1:05 p.m.: Wichita police say they took two suspicious-looking devices out of a hotel room in west Wichita on Monday morning. A maintenance man who went to clean the third-floor room at Woodspring Suites, 7525 W. Taft, found them at around 10:30 a.m. and called for help, said Officer Charley Davidson, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

Wichita police officers and members of the agency’s explosive ordinance disposal team responded to the scene, near Maple and Ridge. They removed the devices from the room and “rendered them safe,” Davidson said. He would not describe what the devices were made of or what they looked like early Monday afternoon.

Davidson said authorities were looking around the room for other devices. The hotel and parking lot were closed Monday during the search, he said.

Two people checked out of the room where the devices were discovered sometime on Sunday, Davidson said. Police are currently try to find them and who else was there, he said.
