Man killed on southwest Kansas road was from Wichita

A Wichita man died after his truck hit a semitrailer in southwest Kansas on Thursday afternoon.

Austin Samuel Holteen, 23, was thrown from the 1991 GMC he was driving after impact and succumbed to his injuries, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in an online crash report. He was headed south on Road OO a little more than two miles east of Highway 83 in Haskell County when he collided with the trailer of a Mack truck traveling east on Road 100. The collision happened at 3:20 p.m.

The 37-year-old Johnson man driving the semi wasn’t hurt, according to the crash report.

Haskell County is about a 3 1/2-hour drive west of Wichita.
