An 18-year-old man was arrested after his 3-year-old nephew was found walking close to a busy Wichita street Tuesday morning, police said.
Someone called 911 at about 8:15 a.m. after seeing the 3-year-old walking close to Hydraulic. Officers found the boy not far from the street in the 800 block of South Hydraulic, Lt. Doug Nolte said.
In checking with nearby residents, the officers learned the boy lived in an apartment complex at 888 S. Hydraulic.
When they knocked on the door of the apartment where the boy lived, an 18-year-old man who police later learned was the boy's uncle answered.

He was groggy, and police found marijuana in plain view.
Nolte said the man, who was serving as the child's babysitter, was arrested on suspicion of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment.
The boy was placed in protective custody while the investigation continued.
