The 24-year-old man shot multiple times by a Wichita police officer late Sunday night has been released from a local hospital and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail, police said Tuesday.
The man was driving a stolen pickup when patrol officers attempted to pull him over for defective lights and erratic driving near 15th and Grove shortly before 10:15 p.m.
He raced off, prompting a police chase that lasted nearly five minutes and reached speeds that may have exceeded 60 mph, police officials later said.
He bailed out of the vehicle and then leveled a gun at the two officers pursuing him, police officials said.
