Arrested woman tries to escape from police

A 21-year-old woman was pretty determined to avoid going to jail early Friday morning.

Arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and domestic violence in the 2200 block of South Glendale shortly after midnight, she was placed in a patrol car for transport to jail — but not before lifting her dress at the officers on the scene, adding a public nudity offense to her list.

As she was being taken to jail, police officials said, she begged the transporting officer to let her go. When he wouldn't comply, she offered sex, police officials said. He turned her down.

She then slipped out of her handcuffs, kicked out the patrol car's back window and crawled out.

She was apprehended after a brief chase, then taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of injuries she suffered during her escape attempt.

She was then booked into jail, with attempted escape and battery of a law enforcement officer added to her offense list.
